Retrospec June Nano Kids’ iSUP Review – Overview
Kids grow up so fast, but sometimes they still need kids-size equipment to be able to fully enjoy your family activities. When your kids are ready for their own SUP, it can be hard to find quality, affordable options. And forget about it if your kids want something niche like a fishing SUP to join you on your fishing missions…
Well, that was the case.
The Retrospec June Nano is a kids-size, but fully kitted, fishing SUP that gives them all the same benefits you get from a fishing specific board, in a shape they can use effectively on the water.

Retrospec June Nano Kids’ iSUP Review – Construction and Durability
The June Nano uses Retrospecs AerGlide-Fusion technology for a durable and affordable construction.

The June Nano has a double-layer shell with double-layer rails.
Most Kid’s SUPs are made with minimal constructions to reduce cost and weight. But the June Nano is made to be a kid’s size version of the full-size June fishing SUP, including with the same durable dual-layer construction.
Inside the June Nano is a double-wall knitted drop stitch core with thousands of yarns connecting the top and bottom layers together. Retrospec then adds a double-layer fusion PVC skin to the core to keep the board as light as possible while improving rigidity and durability against scraping on rocks, stumps, fish barbs, and more. And the edges of the board are glued together with a double-layer PVC rail.
Once the deck pad and all of the onboard features are added to the board (and there are a lot!) the June Nano comes in at just 18.5 pounds. That’s a little heavy for a kids’ SUP, but keep reading to see just how packed full of accessories it is.
Retrospec June Nano Kids’ iSUP Review – Features, Accessories and Versatility
The June Nano is kid’s size, but with a full complement of fishing accessories and no compromises on utility.

The Retrospec June Nano is 9’ 6” long, 32” wide, 6” thick and has a maximum weight capacity of 250 pounds. It has an extra wide tail and nose with extremely parallel sides for maximum stability.

The nose has a broad, round shape for maximizing capacity and stability. There is a carrying handle and GoPro-ready threaded accessory mount on the front.

The front cargo area is spacious and has deck padding under the bungee cords to stand on the nose and help secure equipment.

There are two threaded accessory mounts in front of the standing area with integrated D-rings. These can be linked up with the front cargo area to hold larger items if necessary.

There is a printed 18” measuring scale between the two accessory mounts on the front of the board.

The June Nano is fully compatible with Retrospec’s kayak seat and shoulder carrying strap, and has built-in velcro paddle holders as well.

The June Nano also comes with Retrospec’s inflatable kayak seat and kayak paddle conversion for seated use.

There are two Scotty-style mounting plates behind the standing area…

…and the June Nano comes ready to go with two adjustable fishing rod holders.

There is also an anchor/towing D-ring under the nose of the board.

The June Nano has a 2+1 fin setup and comes with easy-to-use slide-lock fins.

The June Nano comes as a complete kit and then some. All you need to get on the water is a Life Jacket.
I’ve seen full-size “fishing” iSUPs for adults with fewer features and accessories than the Retrospec June Nano. This thing is packed. In addition to all of the built-in features you also get:
- Retrospec June Nano Fishing SUP
- Padded carrying backpack
- Double-action hand pump
- Coiled leg leash
- One 9” fin and two 4.5” fins
- Repair kit
- Two adjustable fishing rod holders
- Retrospec inflatable kayak seat
- 4-piece convertible SUP/kayak paddle
- Waterproof phone bag
- Shoulder carrying strap
Retrospec June Nano Kids’ iSUP Review – Paddle
The June Nano comes with a kids’ size version of Retrospec’s aluminum 3-piece adjustable paddle plus an extra blade for kayak paddle conversion.

The Retrospec paddle is made with an aluminum shaft and ABS plastic blade.
A kid’s paddle board without a kids’ size paddle is a bit like getting the right size shoe with socks that are way too big. Sure it can work, but it’s not going to be comfortable.
The Retrospec kid’s paddle has the same construction and features as the full-size paddle, but scaled down for smaller paddlers.
The aluminum shaft has a powder coated finish for comfort and increased grip, and the handle section has length markings and an indexing groove to keep the handle properly aligned with the paddle. The paddle adjusts between 52-67” in length to fit kids from 3’6” to 5’1” tall.
The blade is also scaled down for better balance and a more comfortable feel in the water. There’s a scoop shape to hold in the water and make it easier to see which way to hold the paddle, and if there’s ever any confusion, the blade itself is labeled “front” and “back”!
Retrospec also includes a second paddle blade that replaces the SUP handle for kayak-style paddling while seated.
Retrospec June Nano Kids’ iSUP Review – Warranty and Customer Support
Retrospec warranties all of their inflatable SUPs for 2 years from the date of purchase. This is a fairly typical warranty length and is actually more than most iSUPs in this price range. Additionally, they offer a 50-day return period, however, all returns are subject to shipping fees. There is no explicit warranty period for the included accessories. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach the Retrospec customer service team via telephone, website form, website chat, and social media.
Retrospec June Nano Kids’ iSUP Review – Final Thoughts

The Retrospec June Nano is a affordable, and very high-value, way to get your kids paddleboard fishing this summer.
It can be hard to purchase for your kids, especially when you know they may grow out of something soon. The June Nano is not only a great value with a huge set of features and accessories, but is sized to grow with your kids. At 9’6” x 32” it’s almost, but not quite, an adult-size board, so your kids will be able to continue using the Retrospec June Nano fishing iSUP for years to come.
