THURSO Prodigy Junior Review | 7’6″ Kids SUP
The THURSO SURF Prodigy paddle board is a great-looking iSUP for kids that comes with a nice package of SUP accessories. Measuring 7’6″ x 30″ x 4″ and weighing in at 19 pounds, THURSO’s Prodigy youth paddle board is absolutely perfect for small paddlers and it can support a maximum weight of up to 165 pounds.
THURSO is a new name on the paddleboarding scene, and the company is working hard to build upon the success of their first model, the THURSO SURF 11′ SUP. In addition to the 7’6″ Prodigy, THURSO also has several other exciting new inflatable SUP models in the works.
In this review, we’re going to cover the features and construction of the board, what we like about it, what we’d like to see improved, what’s included, the warranty, and more.[toc]

THURSO SURF Prodigy Review: SUP Overview
The THURSO 7’6″ Prodigy youth paddle board has a striking design that really stands out from the pack. The top deck features a beautiful woodgrain-look that’s one of THURSO’s signature design elements, and the bottom and rails are done in a beautiful blue color. The board’s rails also have attractive gray accents at the nose and tail which match up nicely with the deck’s 2-piece traction pad.
Up top, the board features a lay-flat carrying handle located at the middle of the board. The Prodigy’s gray traction pad is divided into 2 pieces, and the back third features white accents. The traction pad has a comfortable ribbed pattern that provides good grip and is comfortable on the feet.
The nose of the board features four stainless steel D-rings and a bungee storage area that’s perfect for securing a dry bag, snorkeling gear, or a pair of Crocs. There’s also a convenient grab handle which makes it super easy to pull the board in and out of the water.
At the tail of the board is another reinforced D-ring for attaching the included SUP leash, as well as a Halkey Roberts-style air valve.
On the flip side is a triple fin setup with three small removable fins. THURSO used a toolless fin system that is super easy to use — just line up the fin, drop it into the fin box’s channel, push it down completely to seat it, and then press down the locking tab.
The 7’6″ THURSO Prodigy board features ultra-durable, double layer drop stitch construction. As with all THURSO SUP boards, the Prodigy is ding-proof and virtually indestructible — it’s designed to handle whatever your kiddos can throw at it.
THURSO SURF Prodigy 7'6" Junior
|Max Capacity||165 pounds|
THURSO SURF has a reputation for delivering a lot of value when it comes to included SUP accessories, and the Prodigy package does not disappoint. This board basically includes everything that THURSO’s full-size boards come with, except for the insulated SUP deck bag…
In the box is a full-size THURSO SURF iSUP backpack, a 3-piece carbon shaft travel paddle, a coiled SUP leash, a dual-action hand pump, and an inflatable paddle board repair kit. The board also comes with a solid 2-year warranty which covers all manufacturer defects.
The THURSO SURF Prodigy is one of this year’s best paddle boards for kids, and we love the overall design and great package of accessories that’s included.
When it comes to youth SUP boards, the Prodigy ticks all of the boxes. It’s super cool-looking, built like a tank, and includes everything a child needs to start paddling (aside from a PFD). This board has a versatile, all-around design that is stable and fun to paddle, and it’s extremely affordable to boot. Being an inflatable SUP, it’s also a safer option than a hard SUP as it provides just enough “give” to prevent injury if a child falls on it.
As far as downsides go, we’re a bit disappointed that the board is currently only available in blue. While the blue color does look absolutely amazing, it’s not a great option for girls — we’d really love to see an alternative pink or purple version offered in the future.
Secondly, don’t expect the Prodigy to be the fastest board on the water — because it isn’t. This board was designed for maximum fun, not maximum speed. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll absolutely love the THURSO Prodigy.
Overall, this board is a fantastic option for young paddlers and we highly recommend it for parents who are looking for an affordable, durable, and super fun junior paddle board. When it comes to inflatable paddle boards for children, the THURSO Prodigy is definitely leading the pack in looks, value, and price.

Can you use this board in wave?
It look like a small surfboard…
For a light adult (150) would it work?
Hi Yanick, I haven’t personally tested the board out in those conditions but I think it would probably be okay (although not ideal) in small surf.
