SUP Overview

An affordable inflatable touring SUP that’s designed for paddling longer distances, the Bluefin SUP Cruise 12′ is the company’s entry-level model for budget-minded paddlers. The lower-priced sibling of the new Bluefin SUP Cruise Carbon 12′, the Cruise 12′ offers many of the same features but is constructed a bit differently.

This season’s lineup of Bluefin SUP paddle boards has been very impressive thus far, as the young SUP company startup continues to expand and improve their iSUP range. Known for their durability, affordable price point, and industry-leading 5-year warranty, Bluefin’s inflatable SUP packages are currently some of the best paddle board deals available and they continue to grow in popularity.

For 2020, the company’s inflatable paddle board line consists of 10 models, ranging in size from 8′ to 18′ in length. In addition to touring SUPs, Bluefin also offers all-around boards, a paddle board for kids, and multi-paddler models.

In addition to the Cruise 12′ touring SUP, the company’s entry-level range consists of the Bluefin Cruise 10’8″ all-around iSUP and the Cruise 15′ tandem SUP. Each of these models features the same construction and 5-year warranty.

Covering the top deck of the Cruise 12′ is a diamond crocodile traction pad that is made from EVA foam. There’s a raised kick tail at the rear of the grip pad for improved control in the surf and during step-back pivot turns.

Located mid-board is a Velcro carrying handle that doubles as a paddle holder and there are D-rings along both rails for securing the included kayak seat conversion kit or tying down additional gear.

At the nose of the board is an elastic bungee storage area for securing dry bags, your water shoes, or other paddle board accessories and there’s a GoPro action camera mount which makes it incredibly easy to capture great photos and videos of your paddling adventures.

The Bluefin SUP Cruise 12′ also features front and rear grab handles which makes this longer board much easier to handle on the beach and in the water.

Also positioned at the tail is durable metal D-ring for attaching the included ankle leash as well as the board’s inflation valve. The recommended inflation pressure of this board is 15 PSI.

On the bottom of the iSUP are three fins, two of which are permanently fixed and a larger center fin that is removable. Bluefin went with the popular flip-lock fin system on their Cruise SUPs which makes it very easy to attach and remove the fin.

As with all of Bluefin SUP’s paddle boards, the Cruise 12′ comes with a great package of paddling accessories. In the box is a kayak seat conversion kit, dual-action hand pump, fiberglass 3-piece paddle, waterproof phone case, SUP leash, backpack, and repair kit. The company also includes a 5-year warranty which is currently the best offered anywhere in the industry.

    • Hi Stacy, thanks for asking. The first thing to consider is the right size for you and your uses. A 12′ board will be a little faster and track a little straighter than a 10’8″ board, however the 10’8″ board will be lighter and easier to maneuver. We typically recommend boards between 10-11.5′ long for all-around use/cruising, and longer boards for touring and fitness. The 12′ board does have a higher weight capacity, so if you occasionally paddle with a passenger or medium-large dog, then it will be a bit more stable as well. Please let us know if you have any more questions!
