Maryland-based Earth River SUP was founded in 2012, and in addition to paddleboarding accessories, the company has a really nice range of premium quality inflatable paddle boards. They’re a small company that is made up of die-hard paddlers who are dedicated to designing and producing the highest quality SUP gear possible.
In this review of the Earth River SUP premium cushioned tie down straps, we’ll talk about their construction, how to use them, awesome lifetime warranty, and more.
Earth River SUP Tie Down Straps Review: Overview
Available in both red and blue, the straps are made from a durable nylon webbing that is extremely strong and rated to securely hold a maximum of 330 pounds. These straps have an impressive tensile breaking strength of more than 600 pounds. To put that into perspective, you would need to hang about 30 iSUPs (like the Earth River SUP 10-7 SKYLAKE that’s pictured) from these straps to break them.
In addition to the strong nylon webbing, these straps also have a soft rubber cushion which prevents your board, vehicle, boat, etc. from getting dinged or scratched by the metal buckles.
The heavy duty buckles are completely rustproof and powder coated for the ultimate in durability. They feature a spring loaded catch which is super easy to operate, and the non-slip mechanism securely locks down your board for worry-free transport.
Lastly, each strap is 12 feet in length (long enough to secure two or three boards to your roof), and whenever you’re done using the straps they neatly roll up and stay that way thanks to the handy elastic keeper…
How to Use the Straps
Earth River SUP’s straps are extremely easy to use. First, place your paddle board on the roof of your vehicle…
Next, hold the buckle of the first strap and toss the other end over your vehicle. Place the rubber buckle cushion flat on the top edge of the board’s rail, and repeat this process with the second strap.
With both straps in place, walk around to the other side of your vehicle, loop the strap under the bar on your roof rack, and toss the end back over to the other side. Make sure that the strap is laying flat along the bottom of the board, and then repeat with the second strap.
Last but not least, walk back around to the other side of your vehicle. After making sure again that the strap is laying flat across the bottom of your board, loop the strap under the bar on your roof rack, depress the buckle catch, and slide the strap up through the bottom of the buckle. Keep the buckle catch depressed as you pull the strap all the way through, and once that’s done, you can release the buckle and pull the strap end firmly to tighten it down. When everything is secure, tie off the excess nylon webbing and repeat the process with the second strap.
Warranty
Earth River SUP designed these straps to be absolutely bombproof, and the company guarantees them for life. If you ever have any problems with them, the company will replace them free of charge.
